Extra Help / LIS Opportunities

Building a future opportunity: recognizing when a beneficiary may benefit from assistance programs.

Sometimes there's no appropriate plan change today — but the beneficiary may need prescription cost assistance, or may potentially qualify for a program that changes their situation entirely.

What to recognize Learn to spot opportunities to educate about Medicare Extra Help / LIS, Medicare Savings Programs, and Medicaid — even on a call that doesn't end in an enrollment.
Never hard-code a threshold Income and resource limits for these programs change by program, by year, by household size, and by state. Never state a specific dollar threshold from memory. Instead, either point the beneficiary to current official eligibility information, or clearly tell them you'll need to verify current limits before discussing likely eligibility.
Use this language "may qualify" · "could potentially qualify" · "let's verify"

Never promise approval, and never say someone "will qualify." Eligibility determinations are made by the program, not by you.
